After having an exasperating week, all you want is to have a soul rejuvenating weekend. Isn’t it? So, for those lazy bodies who just want to sit back and enjoy the weekend, ‘Netflix and Chill’ is the ultimate thing to do.
Here’s my top 6 absolute favourite list to watch on Netflix. These are the shows I’ve binge-watch myself. Chances are, you have probably watched some of these already, especially since if spend a lot of time on Netflix. If you haven’t, though, be sure to check them out.
Genre: crime, drama IMDb rating 9.2/10
It is India’s first ever Tv series in collaboration with Netflix. The show stars Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Surveen Chawla amongst many more, directed by none other than Anurag Kashyap & Vikramaditya Motwane. It’s based on the critically acclaimed novel by Vikram Chandra under the same name Sacred Games. The story starts with a mysterious phone call from an anonymous man leads police officer Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) on a chase around Mumbai in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game. The collaboration of the finest actors is what makes the show more intriguing. Total seasons – 1
GENRE: sci-fi, mystery, horror, drama IMDb rating 8.9/10
This series produced by Duffer Brothers is an investigative mystery, horror and drama set in the fictional town of Hawkin, Indiana, in the 1980s— inspired by the time when science fiction captivated audiences. When Will Byers, a 12-year-old boy goes missing under mysterious circumstances, his friends, mother and a chief police officer go under a terrifying investigation, unravelling extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiment, unnerving supernatural forces and a very unusual little girl. With amazing twist ‘n’ turns, this show is a big thumbs up. You really shouldn’t miss this. Total seasons – 2
GENRE: teen drama, mystery IMDb rating 8.1/10
This series gives you an overview of high-school scenario and tops the list of most heart-wrenching and heartbreaking show. This highly controversial series deals with sensitive issues like suicide, rape, sodomy, bullying, etc amongst the high-school children. It follows Clay Jensen, who finds a mysterious package of tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his crush who committed suicide just a few weeks before. There were 13 tapes and each was addressed to someone who had somehow let her commit suicide, hence, 13 Reasons why.
WARNING: Don’t watch if you are going through some mental instability or if you an overthinker. But if you still want to, watch under parental guidance as this series like it or not would affect you. Also, don’t miss watching 13 Reasons Why Beyond the Reasons once you have done with the series. Total seasons – 2
GENRE: mystery, crime IMDb rating 9.2/10
There have been numerous adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes into movies and series, but this modern take on Sherlock Holmes in the 21st-century London solving crimes with a splash of interesting characters is what you crave for. It turns Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes) and his doctor friend Martin Freeman (Dr John Watson) into household names. From cinematography to intricate details of the storyline, we swear it won’t disappoint you. Total seasons – 4
GENRE: black comedy, comedy-drama IMDb rating 8.2/10
This short series based on comic-book series by Charles Forsman. The story of 17-year old psychopathic boy James and a cool, moody and angst girl Alyssa also 17, embark on a road trip to find her estranged father, who left home when she was just a child. On the other hand, James being a psychopath has decided it’s time to graduate from killing animals to something bigger– and he already has a target in mind. together, they caught up on a trail of violent events that grows more ominous as their quest progress; and this type of events is what makes it different from other teenage dramas. Total season – 1
GENRE: drama, history IMDb rating 8.7/10
The very first scene of the series talks about Lord Mountbatten giving up on India which does give the whole thing a personal touch. The crown follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. The show goes a little slow though, but watching the glorifying facts and details of the life of the longest reigning ruler Queen Elizabeth intrigues you in the best possible way and if you are a history fan then you definitely watch it. Total season – 2
